As far as I know, the only post on the topic of WordPress scheduling is Timing is everything: scheduling in WordPress by Glenn Slaven. It is a great introduction to this feature, but when I started to work with scheduling, I have to admit that I had quite a hard time to get it right.
For all of you, who are getting started with WordPress “Cron” or “Scheduling” this is the WordPress Cron Demo plugin. It demonstrates how the WordPress Cron feature can be used.
No Demo.
Download: Cron Demo
Version: 1.0
Usage:
- As always: download, unzip and upload to your WordPress plugins directory
- activate the plugin in you WordPress administration backend and go to the “Options” administration menu

Thanks for the great plugin. I’m going to set it up for my database backup system and content updates for my blogs/web sites.
I just wrote an article called “Google My Blog:Creating Speed Link Sites with WordPress” which uses Cron and WordPress to update site content automatically from Google Alerts.
Check it out if you have a chance.
Thanks Again,
Steve

@steve:
This sounds very interesting! What about putting the whole idea into a WordPress plugin? Let me know if you’re going to do such a thing!

@rr:
Sounds like it would be fun but I don’t have the time (and my programming skills are a little rust now) to put together a plugin.
Thanks,
